IB Programme Accepting Applications
The Dexter Community Schools Board of Education authorized acceptance of 20 schools of choice students for the Dexter High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for the 2014-15 school year.
IB is one of the premier university preparation programs in the world and only available at 29 high schools in Michigan.
According to the most recent available data, Dexter High School’s current International Baccalaureate full Diploma Programme students have an average ACT score of 29. Students participate in a full compliment of arts, athletics and extracurricular programs.
As a high school, DHS is ranked as one of the top 25 high schools in Michigan by the Michigan Department of Education and offers a comprehensive high school experience for all students.
Applications for schools of choice students will be accepted for 10 ninth grade slots, five tenth grade slots, and five eleventh grade slots for the 2014-15 school year.
Any parents or students interested in applying can call the Superintendent’s Office at 734-424-4100 for an application.
Applications will be accepted from April 28 to May 23.
Dexter High School Swimmers named All American Scholar Team
The Dexter High School Boys Swim Team was named an All American Scholar Team by the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA). A Scholar Team must use their entire varsity roster and achieve an average team GPA of 3.2 or better. There were 25 swimmers and 4 divers on the 2013-2014 varsity team. In addition to outstanding performance in the classroom, the Men’s Swim and Dive Team finished second in the State of Michigan in Division II this year. Over the past four years, the team has finished in the top 4 Men’s Swim and Dive Teams in the State of Michigan, including an MHSAA State Championship in 2012.
